The Unseen

The Unseen are a secret society consisting of Chthonic Deities and shades who serve the Primordial Goddess of Night, Nyx. Originally an elite group of warriors, mages, and spies serving as protectors of The Underworld and executing Nyx's will from the shadows, they became a resistance against the forces of the Titan Chronos and his forces after his usurping of the House of Hades, their task being to defeat the Titan and restore Hades as the Underworld's ruler.

They reside in their base at the edge of Erebus, in the form of The Crossroads.

Characteristics

• All of the divine members of the group are connected in some way.
  • Most of the divine members are Children of Nyx, with Selene being a foster-child of hers and some myths describing Hecate as one as well.
  • Hecate, Selene and Melinoë are all lunar deities.
    • Hecate and Melinoë are also gods that are associated with each other in Greek myth.
  • Some myths portray Circe and Medea as daughters of Hecate.
• Hypnos is not a part of the unseen due to his current state which traps him in an eternal slumber, making him unable to properly join the group.
  • His older brother Moros is the most recent member, as he joins during the games' events, unlike everyone else.
• Despite being part of the unseen, Charon, Selene, Circe and Medea do not permanently reside in the Crossroads with the exception of their visits.

History

Origins

The Unseen were formed at an unknown period of time prior to the events of Hades, as a group serving the Underworld's best interests from the shadows under Nyx's will and Hecate as their leader, with Hades himself intentionally barely knowing much about the group.

Despite their vastly different personalities and aspirations, all members of the group were devoted to protecting the Underworld and its inhabitants from any threats that might emerge whether it be from the Surface or even from within the very Underworld itself.

After Chronos took over the underworld, they became a resistance, mostly scouting and preparing while hiding in the shadows as Hecate trained Melinoë for her task.

Hades II

Melinoë goes down to the underworld to strike down Chronos while members of the Unseen help her on the way down.

Trivia

• The group is named after the highest rank in the Underworld, itself obtained by Hades and Zagreus.
• It's possible that Icarus was a member before leaving, if he's still considered one in the same sense as Circe and Medea are unknown.
• Though they all share a common goal, not all of the members of the group get along with each other. Most notably Circe does not want anything to do with Odysseus due to their shared history, and Nemesis still holds a jealous grudge against Melinoë over Hecate's blatant favoritism.
