CodexPortrait BiomeOceanus

Oceanus is a region in the Underworld that intersects with the edge of Poseidon's domain at the bottom of the ocean. It is the second region in Melinoë's descent toward Chronos, accessed after Erebus.

The following region is the Fields of Mourning.

Book of Shadows Entry[]

CodexUpdateHighlightLoop0001
'Oceanus is largely the domain of Lord Poseidon, but the edge of it spills out into the Underworld. You are fortunate in that. But you are unfortunate in that the lurking monstrosities that there have taken residence prefer you no more than Chronos or any god or Titan.'

Description, Society and Culture[]

  • Oceanus is the second Underworld region in Hades II, located at the edge of Poseidon's domain, deep beneath the ocean. It is a briny, humid fortress, filled with underwater hazards and terrain-based traps that Melinoë can use strategically in battle. The area is larger than Erebus, featuring pools of water that restrict movement and waterspouts that can be triggered to damage enemies.
  • Oceanus is a dangerous crossroads between the Underworld and the domain of Poseidon. While it technically belongs to the sea god, it has been overrun by monstrous creatures that show no allegiance to gods or Titans. The region is home to Narcissus, who offers Second-Hand Gifts to Melinoë, though his self-absorbed nature makes him an unusual ally.
  • The culture of Oceanus is one of survival and isolation. Unlike Erebus, which serves as a refuge, Oceanus is a hostile environment, where lurking monstrosities like Lurkers, Pinheads, and Sea-Serpents attack relentlessly. The region's architecture and terrain reflect its dual nature, blending Poseidon's influence with the darkness of the Underworld.
