ā€œ Zorephet, the Moonstone Axe. You can split anything apart. ā€ž
~ Melinoƫ

The Moonstone Axe, Zorephet is one of the Nocturnal Arms that can be unlocked with 10 Silver.

Book of Shadows entry[]

'...No; do not use Zorephet the Moonstone Axe. She is for the likes of Nemesis, not for goddesses of modest proportion. ...Infuriating, is not, such an idea? Zorephet cares not who wields her, so long as she drinks.'

Fighting style[]

Big, slow and powerful, reminiscent of the Aspect of Arthur of the Stygian Blade from the first game. This weapon hits HARD, with nearly everything it does. The Special makes Melinoë spin the axe vertically in front of her for a bit of damage. The Ω Special fires a trio of wide circular blasts in a forward line pattern that do VERY good damage, especially if you position yourself so an enemy gets hit by more than one of the blasts. The Ω Attack, which can be fired after only a partial charge, has you spin around in a cyclone doing multiple strikes to nearby enemies with the amount of charge beforehand determining how many spins you do. This weapon definitely needs a high mana regeneration to get the most out of it, but with its extreme damage and range it can work very well in any situation.

Statistics[]

Move Description Damage Notes
Attack Press Attack > Attack > Attack for Combo.
40 - 80 - 160
The final part of Attack can be aimed using dash and movement. It can also be canceled using Dashing, Dash-Strike, or Special.
Dash-Strike Press Attack quickly after Dashing.
40
The damage calculation for Dash-Strike is based on Attack.
Ī© Attack Channel Attack using 10Magick up to 20Magick, unleash a Whirlwind.
50
  • Channeling longer increases hits from 1 up to 11.
  • Ī© Attack can be performed by releasing the Attack button or dashing, regardless of channeling amount.
  • Apollo's Exceptional Talent affects the Moonstone Axe’s Ī© Attack differently from other weapons’ Ī© Moves, as it doubles the duration instead of increasing the hit rate.
    • However, with the Psychic Whirlwind Daedalus Hammer, Exceptional Talent instead doubles the hit rate while keeping the original duration.
  • Ī© Attack requires a prior use of Attack or Dash-Strike before it can be channeled, introducing a buffer that may interfere with effects consumed during the initial action—such as Dionysus' Bottomless Drink.
Special Press Special to spin the axe in front for light damage.
20x3
Ī© Special Channel Special using 30Magick to Cleave.
140x3
  • Dashing does not interrupt the channel.
  • Ī© Special typically delivers only 1 hit, or 2 hits if aimed correctly or used against large enemies or Guardians.
  • Ī© Special requires a prior use of Special before it can be channeled, introducing a buffer that may interfere with effects consumed during the initial action—such as Dionysus' Bottomless Drink.

Auto-Fire Statistics[]

Move Combo Combo (if Magick is depleted) Notes
Attack Attack > Attack > Attack > Ī© Attack (repeat) Attack > Attack > Attack (repeat)
  • While attacking, dash to perform a Dash-Strike and seamlessly continue the combo.
    • Unlike channeling without Auto-Fire, dashing mid-channel performs Dash-Strike and cancels the channel.
  • The combo with Hell Splitter Daedalus Hammer has a modified iteration:
    • Use Attack > Ī© Attack (repeat)
      • Ī© Attack does not auto-execute; release the Attack button manually to perform Ī© Attack, then hold it again to reset the sequence.
      • Even if Magick is depleted, continue attempting Ī© Attack, even if it fails. This effectively disables the Auto-Fire function.

Currently Bugged: If Magick is below the minimum required for Ī© Attack and the combo switches to its alternate version, it may interfere with Born Gain and Mortal Gain. Since this combo does not include or attempt to use Ī© Moves, these boons may not activate as intended, preventing proper Magick regeneration.

  • However, this issue does not occur when using Executioner's Chop Daedalus Hammer, as its Magick usage correctly triggers these boons.
  • This issue can be avoided by using any other Ī© Moves, such as Ī© Cast, to correctly triggers these boons.
Special Special > Ī© Special > Special (repeat Special) Special > Ī© Special (cancelled) > Special (repeat Special)
  • Dashing does not interrupt the channel.
    • Even if Magick is depleted, continue attempting Ī© Special in this condition, even if it fails.
    • Using Ī© Special causes Special to repeat, even with enough Magick for Ī© Special, until Dashing resets the sequence.
      • The cycle becomes: Special > Ī© Special > Dash (repeat)

Cleave-Cast functions identically to Ī© Cast, meaning it benefits from any Ī© Cast-related boons and upgrades, such as Poseidon's Geyser Spout, Apollo's Lucid Gain and Prominence Flare, Ares' Meat Grinder.

However, Cleave-Cast is not affected by Night, as Night requires two Ī© Moves to activate its effect. Cleave-Cast, instead, relies on Cast and Ī© Special for its effect.

Mortality: A fleeting bonus of +1% Critical chance for your Ī© Moves, up to a max of +13%.
  • The Mortality bonus can be charged by successfully hitting foes with Attack or Special, although hitting multiple foes at once does not stack the bonus charge.
  • The Mortality bonus resets to 0% upon taking any form of damage to Armor or Health, including self-inflicted damage such as from Chaos’ Curses.
  • Synergizes well with effects that provide Barrier Barrier protection or equivalent effects, such as:
  • Also synergizes with Hermes’ Paid Dues, as damage mitigated through Gold does not count as damage taken and will not reset Mortality.
  • The Health Prime effect from Ares’ Mortal Gain does not reset the Mortality bonus.
  • The Mortality ability is affected by Hermes’ Success Rate, increasing the bonus cap to +17%/+18%/+20%/+21%
    • However, the bonus still requires only 13 successful hits (i.e., 13% base) to reach the cap, regardless of the increased value.

The Mortality bonus persists between locations and is not reset when entering a new area.

  • Apollo's Prominence Flare has an anti-synergy with this setup, as it disables the ability to use Cast while active.

Trivia[]

  • Zor is an Azerbaijani noun of Persian origin that means ā€œviolence, forceā€. Phet (Φθά) is the romanized form of the name of the ancient Egyptian deity Ptah. The name "Ptah" likely derives from the ancient Egyptian word for "opener" or "sculptor" (ptįø„), reflecting his role as a creator god. Therefore, it is possible that Zorephet translates to ā€œThe Violence Creator/Bringerā€. Zorephet's Book of Shadows entry implies that it longs to drink blood, which supports this theory. It is also worth noting that in Sanskrit, "Phet" (ą¤«ą„‡ą¤Ÿ) or "Phat" (ą¤«ą¤Ÿą„) can mean "crack!" or "an onomatopoeic word used mystically in uttering spells or incantationsā€.
  • The Aspect of Thanatos doesn't take the form of an axe, instead becoming a scythe, specifically the one Thanatos is seen using in the first game.
    • It's confirmed to be the very scythe that Thanatos used in the first game by Chronos, who explains that Thanatos didn't have it on hand when he was captured hence why it is in the Crossroads.
    • The effect of his aspect works similarly to the Pierced Butterfly, his keepsake from the first game.
  • Before The Olympic Update, the Moonstone Axe's Special use to be able to block all attacks. After the Update, the block was removed from the Axe and incorporated into the final Noctural Arms: The Black Coat.
