HadesHades II

Keepsakes are items that can be equipped to obtain some sort of benefit during a run. They are acquired by giving Nectar to various characters for the first time. A keepsake can be equipped in the display case in the Training Grounds before a run.

Things to note about using Keepsakes:

  • Once a keepsake has been equipped and MelinoĆ« has left the Crossroads, the keepsake cannot be swapped out for a different one except between regions.
    • Access to a keepsake display case between regions is unlocked with the Kindred Keepsakes Incantation.
    • Caution: Closing the keepsake display after changing keepsakes will lock the display from being accessed again until the next post-Guardian room.
  • If you switch out of a keepsake mid-run, you cannot switch back to it for the rest of the run.
  • Keepsakes automatically rank up when enough encounters are cleared while the keepsake is equipped which upgrades a keepsake's effect to Rare and Epic.
    • Rank 2: 25 encounters
    • Rank 3: 50 encounters
  • The Heroic rank of a Keepsake is only achievable by having the Cherished Heirloom duo boon from Demeter & Hera.

List of Keepsakes[]

For Keepsakes from the Olympian Gods (except Athena, Dionysus, Hermes and Artemis), see Keepsakes From Olympians

Icon Description Notes

Silver Wheel
From Hecate
Gain +50/75/100/150MagickUp this night. The MagickUp granted by this keepsake remains active even if the keepsake is unequipped.

Knuckle Bones
From Odysseus
The next Guardian loses -5/10/15/25%Health. You take -15% damage from Guardians.
  • This effect is limited to 1 region and expires once the Guardian in that region has been defeated.
  • If the keepsake expires, Cherished Heirloom will not reset its effect.

Luckier Tooth
From Schelemeus
After you fall to 0Health, automatically restore 51/76/101/151Health once this night.
  • Luckier Tooth functions as a bonus Death Defiance. As a result, it does not synergize with Strength
  • Normally, Cherished Heirloom only increases the effect of a keepsake if it has not yet been used. However, if Luckier Tooth has already been triggered, obtaining Cherished Heirloom will replenish its Death Defiance and enhance its healing effect for any future activation within the same night.

Ghost Onion
From Dora

Whenever you exit a Location, fully restore your Health, up to a total of 50/75/100/150Health this night.

Ghost Onion is classified as a Health Healing effect, meaning it benefits from Old Herbal Remedy, and is affected by Vow of Scars.

Vow of Scars reduces Health efficiency depending on its rank, but Ghost Onion’s healing limit still takes the full amount into account. For example, if you take 18 damage, Ghost Onion will heal +13.5/+9/0, and its healing limit will be adjusted to 82.

Evil Eye
From Nemesis
Deal +20/25/30/40% to the last foe that vanquished you. Currently: (Enemy Name).
  • After defeating the targeted foe, the effect resets to a blank state. It will then activate again and target the next foe that defeats you.
  • Evil Eye automatically tracks the last foe that defeated you, even if unequipped at the time of your defeat. This can create issues if a regular foe ends your run before reaching the Guardian.

Engraved Pin
From Moros
When first you fall to 0Health, become Doomed. Clear it in time for 30/45/60/90Health.

Doomed: You are invulnerable to damage for 10 Sec., but still have 0Health afterward. Unless...

  • This effect does count as a Death Defiance. As a result, it does not synergize with Strength
    • Unlike other Death Defiance Death Defiance effects, Engraved Pin does not apply bonus damage for Last Gasp.
  • If you have at least one Death Defiance Death Defiance, the Engraved Pin's effect will activate first, and your Death Defiance Death Defiance will only be consumed if you fail to defeat the last enemy before the 10-second countdown ends.

Currently Bugged: Although Engraved Pin is treated as a Death Defiance, it inconsistently interacts with Strength. You still receive the +25% damage bonus, but the damage reduction effect does not apply.

Discordant Bell
From Eris
After each Encounter, you deal +0.5/0.75/1/1.5% damage, but also take that much more.

Gold Purse
From Charon
Gain +100/125/150/200Gold this night.

Metallic Droplet
From Hermes
You move, strike, and Channel 20% faster for the next 200/250/300/400 Sec.
  • The effect's timer continues counting down even outside of combat, during location transitions, or while interacting with NPCs—any moment that normally pauses the in-game clock. The only way to pause the timer is by manually pausing the game.
  • Metallic Droplet does not interact with Cherished Heirloom while it is active. The Boon only applies if Metallic Droplet is the next keepsake you equip while transitioning between regions.
  • The diminishing effect of this keepsake is not reset by Cherished Heirloom.

White Antler
From Artemis
For the next Region, gain +20/25/30/50% Critical damage chance, but you are limited to 30Health.
  • This effect is limited to 1 region and expires once the Guardian in that region has been defeated.
  • The Max Health reduction sets your current Max Health to a fixed value of 30 for the entire region, overriding any additional Max Health gained through Centaur Heart, Boons, or upgrades. When the keepsake expires, your Max Health returns to its original value, including any additional Health acquired while the keepsake was active.
  • If the keepsake expires, Cherished Heirloom will not reset its effect.
  • White Antler is affected by Hermes' Success Rate.

Moon Beam
From Selene
A reward from Selene is likely. The next Path of Stars you find grants +3/4/5/7 upgrades.
  • Moon Beam does not interact with Cherished Heirloom while it is active. The Boon only applies if Moon Beam is the next keepsake you equip while transitioning between regions.
  • If the keepsake expires, Cherished Heirloom will not reset its effect.
  • The Gifts of the Moon prioritizing effect of Moon Beam does not apply in Charon's Shop or the Shrine of Hermes.

Cloud Bangle
From Zeus
see Keepsakes From Olympians)

Iridescent Fan
From Hera
(see Keepsakes From Olympians.)

Vivid Sea
From Poseidon
(see Keepsakes From Olympians.)

Barley Sheaf
From Demeter
(see Keepsakes From Olympians.)

Purest Hope
From Apollo
(see Keepsakes From Olympians.)

Beautiful Mirror
From Aphrodite
(see Keepsakes From Olympians.)

Adamant Shard
From Hephaestus
(see Keepsakes From Olympians.)

Everlasting Ember
From Hestia
(see Keepsakes From Olympians.)

Sword Hilt
From Ares
(see Keepsakes From Olympians.)

Gorgon Amulet
From Athena
While you have no Death Defiance, Athena may appear once this night with at least Common/Rare/Epic/Heroic Boons.
  • Gorgon Amulet only activates when MelinoĆ« does not have the Death Defiance Death Defiance effect. To ensure the keepsake’s effect triggers, avoid the following:
    • Death
    • Toula (unless the Death Defiance granted by her has already been used)
    • Chaos' Defiance.
  • Under this keepsake’s effect, Athena will always appear during the first, second, or third encounter in the region.
  • If used while on the Surface route, she will not appear again in Mount Olympus by chance.
    • Currently Bugged: Equipping this keepsake just before entering Mount Olympus renders it ineffective, as the guaranteed appearance does not trigger there. Even if Athena appears by chance, her Boons will not benefit from the keepsake’s rarity enhancement.
  • If you receive a Boon from Athena earlier in the night without the Gorgon Amulet, you will not be able to equip this keepsake for The Summit.
  • If the keepsake expires, Cherished Heirloom will not reset its effect.

Fig Leaf
From Dionysus
A single Encounter in 1/2/3/4 Region(s) may be blissfully free from foes the rest of this night.
  • The effect has a 37% chance of triggering, but there is no guarantee it will activate in a given region.
  • To fully maximize the benefits of the Fig Leaf at the Epic level, it is best utilized in the second region of each route.
  • Fig Leaf applies to all standard encounter types, but does not trigger if the encounter includes an assisting NPC.
    • This includes the introductory encounters in Rift of Thessaly or Mount Olympus, where the effect may be wasted due to the presence of a few weak enemies.
  • Fig Leaf does not interact with Cherished Heirloom while it is active. The Boon only applies if Fig Leaf is the next keepsake you equip while transitioning between regions.
  • The diminishing effect of this keepsake is not reset by Cherished Heirloom.
    • As a result, Cherished Heirloom has no practical effect with Fig Leaf even if it is upgraded to the Heroic rarity, since the keepsake's effect will not increase to 4 regions, even if acquired in the first region.

Silken Sash
From Arachne
Gain +20 Armor. While you have at least 1 Armor, gain +2/3/4/6Armor after each Location.

Aromatic Phial
From Narcissus
Fountains restore +20% Health. The next makes 1 random Common Boon of yours Rare/Epic/Heroic. Aromantic Phial does not interact with Cherished Heirloom.

Concave Stone
From Echo
After choosing a Boon, 25/50/75/100% of the time randomly take 1 more, once this night.
  • Since the extra Boon is chosen at random, it may disrupt your setup by selecting one that conflicts with your existing Boons or strategy. Potential issues include:
    • Receiving a Boon that is mutually exclusive with or lacks synergy in your setup.
    • Accidentally selecting a sacrifice option that replaces a key Boon, potentially weakening or breaking your setup. This can occur due to limited choices caused by exhausting the Boon pool, using Sacrificial Hymn, or restrictions from Vow of Denial.
  • Concave Stone is affected by Hermes' Success Rate.

Lion Fang
From Heracles
Deal +30/40/50/70% damage, but lose 5% of this bonus after each Encounter.
  • Lion Fang does not interact with Cherished Heirloom while it is active. The Boon only applies if Lion Fang is the next keepsake you equip while transitioning between regions.
  • The diminishing effect of this keepsake is not reset by Cherished Heirloom.

Blackened Fleece
From Medea
After you take 250 damage, your Ī© Moves deal +20/30/40/60% damage. Currently: (damage taken).
  • The damage requirement accumulates throughout the night, and any Health effects do not reduce the total damage counted.
  • Damage reduction effects (e.g., Strength, Tough Gain, Brave Face, Frosty Veneer) do reduce the amount of damage counted toward the threshold. Only the actual damage taken is applied—not the original unmitigated value.
  • Most sources of damage contribute toward this total—even some that do not reduce health directly. These include:
    • The Health Prime effect from Ares’ Mortal Gain
    • Deflected damage through certain Athena's Boons (e.g., Divine Dash, Mental Block)
  • However, some effects do not count toward the damage threshold:
    • Self-inflicted damage from Chaos’ curses
    • Damage absorbed by Hermes’ Paid Dues, which creates an anti-synergy, as damage mitigated through Gold is not registered as damage taken.

Crystal Figurine
From Circe
After the next Guardian, activate 1 random inactive /// Arcana Card.
  • This effect is limited to 1 region and expires once the Guardian in that region has been defeated.
  • Crystal Figurine's Arcana Card Activation effect stacks with Judgement.

Experimental Hammer
From Icarus
Gain 1 random Daedalus Hammer that lasts for 10/15/20/30 Encounters.
  • Any Daedalus Hammer upgrade effect provided by this keepsake contributes to the Fated List of Minor Prophecies for specific weapons.
  • The temporary Daedalus Hammer upgrade effect does not appear in the Daedalus Hammer selection. If the provided temporary upgrade is not what you want, it effectively reduces the selection pool by one, increasing the chances of obtaining your desired upgrade.
  • The temporary Daedalus Hammer upgrade can be removed via the Anvil of Fates, which grants two new permanent upgrades.
  • The Daedalus Hammer upgrade is not tied to the run's random seed, meaning that giving up and restarting the run will not provide the same upgrade as the previous run.

Transcendent Embryo
From Chaos
Gain a random Common/Rare/Epic/Heroic Chaos blessing. Every 8 Encounters, replace it.
  • The blessing granted by this keepsake remains active even if the keepsake is unequipped.
  • The blessing is not tied to the run's random seed, meaning that giving up and restarting the run will not provide the same blessing as the previous run.

Keepsakes From Olympians[]

All of the Olympian Keepsakes (except the ones from Artemis, Athena, Dionysus and Hermes) have the same function:

A Boon of (God Name) is likely. You can Rarify his/her Common/Rare/Epic blessings once this night.

Additional Notes[]

  • The "A Boon of (God Name) is likely" effect of Olympian Keepsakes refers to boon prioritization: when a location reward is a Boon (excluding Boons from Hermes and Chaos), it is guaranteed to match the god associated with the equipped Keepsake. This effect activates once per Keepsake per run.
    • Boon prioritization may also occur when using Change of Fate Change of Fate on a Major Find location, as the reward may randomly change to a Boon.
    • Boon prioritization does not apply—unless the eligible Olympian pool has reached four or more gods—to the following:
    • The "A Boon of (God Name) is likely" label can be misleading, as it does not increase the general chance of receiving Boons from the associated god—it only affects prioritization when a Boon is already the reward.
  • At Rank 1, these keepsakes can only be used with Common Boons; at Rank 2, it can be used with Common OR Rare Boons, and so on.
  • Rarifying will increase rarity by 1. For example, a Boon that started out Rare will become Epic, a Boon that started out Epic will become Heroic, etc.
  • The Cherished Heirloom Duo Boon does not typically interact with Olympian Keepsakes in the usual way. Instead of upgrading Keepsakes's rarity directly, it offers an extra Rarify option, but only if the Rarify option has been used beforehand.
    • The effect applies only to the current Olympian Keepsake and does not extend to new Olympian Keepsakes if you switch in the next region.
    • If the extra Rarify option is not used, it will not carry over to another Olympian Keepsake after switching in a new region.

Trivia[]

  • The Luckier Tooth keepsake is a reference to the Lucky Tooth from the first game. Since this one is Luckier, it gives 1 more Life when you die.
  • Similarly to the first game, these keepsakes also have references to Greek myth:
    • Silver Wheel - a wheel symbol that's associated with Hecate.
    • Engraved Pin - references Moros' role alongside the Fates.
    • Metallic Droplet - the substance inside the vial is probably Mercury, which is Hermes' Roman counterpart.
    • White Antler - a reference to Artemis' sacred animal, the deer.
    • Iridescent Fan - possibly a reference to the rainbow goddess Iris, who was a messenger of Hera, while also a reference to peacocks, Hera's sacred animal.
    • Adamant Shard - in myth, adamant is a powerful metal used by the gods, Hephaestus himself using it at one point.
    • Lion Fang - a nod to the Nemean Lion which Heracles slew.
    • Blackened Fleece - an opposite and reference to the Golden Fleece, an item connected to Medea.
    • Crystal Figurine - resembles a pig, which Circe is known to turn tresspassers into.
    • Gorgon Amulet - a reference to the Medusa myth in which Athena is involved.
    • Fig Leaf - the fig tree is associated with Dionysus.
