~ Hestia |
Hestia is the Olympian Goddess of Flame and Hearth. In Hades, she is only mentioned as one of the previous bearers of Adamant Rail.
She appears in Hades II and offers her boons to Melinoë in her fight against Chronos. Her signature Status Curse is Scorch, which deals damage-over-time to enemies and increasing with additional Scorch stacks.
Characteristics and Personality[]
Hestia is often regarded as being the kindest and most understanding among the Olympians. She is shown to be very comforting and caring, speaking in a maternal and advising tone when addressing her great-niece Melinoë, and is shown to enjoy making fire-related puns. However, despite her gentle nature, she is not to be underestimated when it comes to matters like war. Beneath that gentleness, Hestia is a "hotheaded" goddess; a veteran who participated in the first Titanomachy, and once wielded the Adamant Rail, a devastating weapon that even Achilles hopes never again reaches the mortal world. That being said, due to its destructive nature, Hestia willingly gave up the weapon after the war (though she still doesn't appreciate Eris using it to spread mischief). Despite being immortal, Hestia likes to refer to herself as elderly. She is shown to take pride in her position as the eldest of the Olympians and takes offense to Demeter’s claim of being the eldest. Although Hestia is not seen on Mount Olympus as often anymore, she still defends her position.
Although benevolent, denying her blessings is like playing with fire - one must be careful not to get burned. In the trial of the gods, her second nature reveals itself; she warns Melinoë that the 'first-degree' burn was just a glimpse of what the goddess of the flame is capable of. That being said, she also assures Melinoë that she is not really mad at her for not choosing her blessing, and only attacks her because she doesn't have the energy to go against her family’s traditions, which she herself finds ridiculous.
Physical description[]
As the Goddess of Flame, Hestia shows a lot of fiery elements in her. She dresses in red and orange garments, complemented by a white hood with flame motifs. She uses a pyre on her head that's constantly burning, and her hair is styled as if it were a fire, even being orange to keep the theme. She wears a sort of brazier around her waist and neck, as well as a red choker. Her eyes are red, her earrings are like molten rocks and her skin is dark brown with vitiligo. She holds a scalding fire poker. Her appearance is reminiscent of that of a kindly grandmother, reflecting her maternal nature.
Background[]
Hestia is the eldest daughter of the titans Hyperion and Theia, and sister of Demeter, Hera, Helios, Selene and Eos. Together with her younger sisters, Demeter and Hera, Hestia joined Zeus' side and helped him defeat the Titans. During the war she wielded the Adamant Rail. After the war, Hestia became one of the twelve Olympian deities and discarded the Adamant Rail which was later taken by Eris.
The Adamant Rail ended up in the possession of Zagreus, who could unlock her Aspect. Hestia herself was not involved during the events of the first Hades.
Hades II[]
Hestia lends Melinoë her boons once she becomes aware of her existence like the rest of the Olympians.
Affinity[]
As of Early Access, Hestia's affinity gauge is maxed out at 4 hearts.

Trivia[]
- Hestia claims that she is actually the oldest among the Olympian Gods. Demeter is mistakenly considered the oldest because she is often not present on Olympus.
- In Greek Mythology, Hestia, Demeter and Hera's actual parents are Cronus and Rhea, which makes Hades, Poseidon and Zeus their siblings.
- Hestia has Vitiligo.
- Hestia speaks with a Yorkshire accent and uses British English, often referring to Demeter as Melinoë's "nan".
- All of Hestia's elemental boon affinities are fire given her status as the Goddess of Flame and Hearth.
- Before the Olympic Update, Hestia’s title was “Goddess of Flame”. Whilst this title is correct, it was changed in the update to be her other title. That being the “Goddess of the Hearth”.
