The Guardian's Icon.
In Hades II, Guardians are exceptionally powerful foes that act as the final boss of a region and defeating them is a requirement to proceed to the next region of a Path or to the end it. Guardians are distinguished by having a large health bar with a nameplate along the top of the screen.
Guardians should not be confused with Wardens who are the mini-bosses of a region.
Overview[]
A Guardian is a powerful being who has claimed leadership over parts of the world, usually a single region. They possess the authority of minor deities or kings with the Wardens and other inhabitants of their respective regions all reporting back to them. The Guardians encountered by Melinoƫ have aligned themselves with Chronos in his bid to restore his Golden Age upon the world while a few of them are merely neutral or have their own reasons for hindering her mission.
When not fighting to defend their territories, most of the Guardian's time is devoted to mediating conflicts and disputes between mortals and minor deities, orchestrating agreements with other Guardians (both on the Surface and within the Underworld) and enforcing various rules and laws.

Trivia[]
- Typhon is the only Guardian whose health bar cannot be seen during their fight with Melinoƫ. The bar is briefly visible during the cutscene leading into the fight, but the bar shatters and is invisible for the rest of the fight.
- Scylla and the Sirens are unique for being the only Guardian in Hades II that has multiple targets who all contribute to the boss' health when hit.
