HadesHades II
Instantly makes you tougher, more so whenever you fail.
Failure is the greatest instructor of all. Try this if you find you're struggling, want to focus on the story, or any reason.

God Mode is a difficulty option that can be toggled at any time from the Options menu. God Mode grants 20% damage resistance, increasing by 2% each time a run ends with Melinoë's inevitable retreat to The Crossroads (i.e., a failed run). The damage resistance caps at 80%, and the maximum resistance value can be adjusted manually in the options menu, from 20% up to 80%.

God Mode was added to make Hades II more accessible and to allow players to experience the story more easily if they wish.

This mode can be turned on or off at any time without penalty. When God Mode is deactivated, the player loses its damage resistance benefits but retains any accumulated percentage. Reactivating God Mode restores the previously gained resistance. However, run records while using God Mode are stored separately from non-God Mode runs.

Notes[]

  • Activating God Mode will give Melinoë a buff called Deus Ex Machina. Deus ex machina typically refers to a plot device that abruptly resolves a plot situation through an unlikely occurrence. The phrase's origins can be traced back to ancient Greek theatre, wherein actors playing as gods could be brought onto the stage via a machine to resolve a conflict.
