Hades Wiki
HadesHades II

Fishing is a minigame that becomes available throughout the Underworld and on the Surface after Melinoë has obtained the Rod of Fishing. The Rod (alongside all other Gathering Tools) will become unlockable after completing the Incantation Night's Craftwork, which itself requires only 1Moly.

Melinoë can purchase and equip the Rod of Fishing at the Silver Pool in the Training Grounds. As of Early Access, the Rod can be upgraded once to Rank II after completing the Greater Greater Favor of Gaia incantation. At Rank II, it grants Melinoë 1 Water upon gathering, once per night.

  • Rank I Cost: 2 Fate Fabric, 1 Bronze
  • Rank II Cost: 4 Driftwood, 2 Serpent Scales

Because Bronze Bronze can only be found on the Surface and must be mined, Melinoë must complete the Permeation of Witching-Wards incantation and obtain the Crescent Pick to acquire the materials for the Rod.

Caught fish can be exchanged for Bones Bones from the Wretched Broker (see Possible Catches table below).

How to Fish[]

Melinoë cannot start fishing until the encounter is cleared of enemies.

Similar to the first Hades, standing near the Fishing Point and pressing the Interact button will begin a fishing attempt. When the minigame starts, a set of orbs will appear below the screen to signify the number of fishing attempts you have before the fish gets away from your bait. The goal is to wait for the bobber to align with the sparkle in the water before attempting to reel in the catch. You have a limited amount of time and chances to succeed before the fish gets away.

If Melinoë is accompanied by her Animal Familiar Toula, Toula will fish for her, and the minigame will automatically be skipped.

The best way to find places you can fish is by doing the Incantation "Reagent Sensing", which alerts you to resources nearby on your current map, including Fishing Points. Reagent Sensing requires 1Moly to activate.

Fishing with Others[]

After completing the "Rite of River-Fording" Incantation, a Fishing Pier will be added to the the northwest corner of the Crossroads and Melinoë will be awarded Twin Lures Twin Lures. Upon offering Twin Lures to certain characters, they may accompany her to the Pier. This will improve Melinoë's affinity/bond with them, similar to offering Nectar.

The characters that you can offer the Twin Lures to are Dora, Hecate, Moros, Nemesis, and Odysseus.

Once triggering this bonding event, in-game time is fast-forwarded to the equivalent of traversing 16 Whiles.

Additional Twin Lures can be purchased from the Wretched Broker for 100 Bones each.

Animal Familiar[]

After recruiting Toula as a Familiar, equipping her grants access to her special ability, Sense Bond. This ability enhances her utility as a Gathering Tool by increasing the chances of Fishing Spots appearing during a run and automatically catching fish for Melinoë without requiring the minigame.
