Fields of Mourning

The Fields of Mourning is the third biome of the Underworld. The area is home to many Shades who have decided to stay, despite the infestion of Chronos' forces.

The following biome is Tartarus.

Book of Shadows Entry[]

'The Mourning Fields spread across the outer reaches of the Underworld, languishing together with those residing there.

How unusual that, in such an increasingly well-populated place, a sense of utter solitude should be so pervasive, so oppressive. Nothing prevents the Shades that wallow there from leaving, save for they themselves.'

Bawlder	Deals damage on contact and knocks Melinoë back a short distance.	?
Blight-Shade	Shoots three orb projectiles that spread out as they travel. Short-range flurry of punches.	Shoots three rows of three projectiles each.
Bloat-Shade	Long-range vacuum that pulls Melinoë in. It then explodes its spikes outward after a short delay.	?
Blood-Shade	Dashes forward, striking multiple times with their horns and dealing rapid damage and knockback with each hit.	?
Canine	Attacks with short-range, lunging bites.	?
Holeheart	Throws its "heart", which functions like a mine. It damages when it lands and when it's triggered.	Throws three "hearts" in a line.
Lamia	Attacks by charging its staff and summoning a vertical laser that will follow Melinoë.	Laser moves faster.
Lycaon	Attacks by lunging and performing three frontal swipe attacks. Can summon 3-4 Canines when it howls.	Replaces its normal attacks with a leap attack.
Mourner	Attacks with a barrage of fist attacks.	?
Reed-Stalker	Uses a burrowing vine tendril (its "tail") to roam the field and strike. Turns in a circle firing a fast volley of thorny projectiles. Occasionally summons a patch of entangled roots beneath Melinoë's feet that stun.	?
Screamer	Omni-directional pull, then pursues Melinoë while emitting a cone of sound that deals rapid damage.	?
Smacker	Leaps into the air and snap their 'teeth,' dealing damage in a radius.	?
Sorrow-Spiller	Creates an obfuscating black fog that covers it and its allies.	?

Mini-Boss Encounters[]


Name	Attack
Phantom	Long-range vacuum attack that deals multiple hits. Lunges forward and swipes a claw in a long arc; may repeat this multiple times in quick succession. Heals when this attack hits. Accompanied by several Blight-Shades.
Queen Lamia	Channels multiple vertical beams that follow Melinoë. Summons clouds of Miasma that drift across the field. Accompanied by 4 Lamia adds.
